Ridge Detection by Image Filtering Techniques: A Review and an Objective Analysis

Ridges (resp., valley) are the useful geometric features due to their wide varieties of applications, mainly in image analysis problems such as object detection, segmentation, scene understanding, etc. Many characterizations have contributed formalize ridge notion. The signification each characterization rely however on its actual application. objective characterized thin and complex structure is thus essentially important, for choosing which parameter’s values correspond suitable configuration obtain accurate results optimal performance. In this article an extensive followed by a supervised comparison different filtering-based detection techniques led. Furthermore, parameter filtering aimed salient feature tool been objectively investigated, where chosen filter’s parameters corresponds width desired or valley.
